This craft is simple and oh-so cute! Watch your little ones light up when they see their artwork on the wall or mantel this Christmas. Use one colour or many, you could even add glitter! Adult supervision and help are needed for this craft as we recommend using a crafter knife to trim the painter’s tape (see below for details!)

What do you need to make a Reindeer Fun! Kids Craft

• Canvas
• Painters tape
• Paint
• FREE template
• Crafting knife
• Pencil
• Black paint pen or permanent marker
• Sequins and/or glitter (optional)

How to make Reindeer Fun! Kids Craft!

• Print and cut out our FREE template
• Trace the reindeer head onto the canvas
• Cover the traced outline with painter’s tape
• Using a crafter’s knife, carefully cut away the excess tape
• Paint! Use a brush or finger paint!
• Set the painting aside to dry completely. Then peel the tape away
• outline and colour the eyes using a black paint pen or thick permanent marker
• Add sequins or glitter using all-purpose glue.

Easy to follow photo tutorial!

Print and cut out our free reindeer template. Be sure to cut the nose and the eyes out as well. Then center the reindeer in the middle of the canvas —Trace around the head, eyes and nose with a pencil. Don’t press too hard!

Cover the traced drawing with painter’s tape.

Using a crafter’s knife, carefully cut away the excess tape so you’re left with a painter’s tape reindeer face.

To make the nose the same colour as the background, cut the nose out as well. Leave the eyes.

Then paint! Have your little one use a paintbrush — or finger paint! — around the canvas. Use different colours or the same. Glitter paint of confetti paint is a great addition to this project!

Set the painting aside to dry completely.

Once dry, carefully peel the painter’s tape away from the canvas.

Next, outline and colour the eyes using a black paint pen or thick permanent marker.

Optional: Add sequins or glitter using all-purpose glue.

We can tell you first hand that this monster spray has worked. How do we know? One of Christine’s Sugarplums became afraid of monsters.  Her other two never had a problem sleeping in their own room, never had nightmares, and didn’t need a nightlight. But her middle daughter let those monsters in. So, in a struggle to help her sleep better we created some very special, very powerful DIY Magic Monster Spray with essential oils.  Thank goodness it worked!

A good night’s sleep.

We recommend making the Magic Monster Spray together with your children. That way you can talk about their fears while they are having fun making a craft. When adding the essential oil, you can simply say that monsters hate the smell of essential oils.

How do you use Monster Spray? After your normal bedtime routine, bring out the magic monster spray.  You can explain again that the magic spray will not let any monsters into the room, then ask where the monsters are getting in. Spray those areas first. Let your child spray and have siblings and family help as well. Spray other areas too, like windows or closet doors.

Keep the bottle within reach and hopefully, with Magic Monster spray nearby, bedtime monsters will soon be history!

• Plastic spray bottle
• Distilled water

• Place stickers onto the spray bottle.

DIY Magic Monster Spray Tutorial

This Monster Spray is so easy to make.  First, stick your stickers onto the bottle.  Then all you have to do is put the ingredients into the bottle.  Start with the water, then add some gemstones, and finally a couple drops of essential oil.  Give the bottle a swirl before each use.

The essential oils give a fragrance to fend off the monsters. After all, if we can smell it…the monsters can too, right? The gems are for added fun. And the label makes it legit. They will check it out, even if they can’t read!

• Wooden tray
• Wrapping paper
• Variety of cardboard boxes and paper rolls
• Spray glue
• Spray paint (or acrylic)

How do I make an Easy Teacher’s Desk Top Organizer?

• Paint the wooden tray.
• Arrange the boxes in the tray to give you an idea of where they will be.
• Adhere wrapping paper to the cardboard boxes and rolls using the spray on glue.
• Place in the wooden tray!

How to – Photo Tutorial

Before covering the boxes and painting the tray, do a mock up of how you want them to look and fit. Remember to have taller boxes near the back so you can see smaller items in the front!

Paint the wooden tray, this will work as the base of the organizer. We used spray paint, but acrylic paint works well too. Especially if you have little ones helping out. Set the base aside to dry.

While the base is drying, prepare the cardboard boxes and rolls. Measure and cut the wrapping paper to size. Then, spray the cardboard box with glue spray. Adhere the paper to the boxes, inside and out. As well as the outside of the rolls.

Once the tray has dried completely and the boxes are covered you can arrange them in the tray.

What You’ll Need:

• 25 Corks
• Orange paint
• Green Paint
• Floral Wire
• Felt or Silk Leaves
• Paint Brush
• Glue

We’ll start with 24 of the corks. Start by pouring some orange paint onto a plate or dish and then dip the end of each cork into the paint. Dab excess paint onto a paper towel. Repeat for all 24 corks and then let dry. Repeat the same again on the opposite sides of the corks.

Paint the remaining cork green to make the stem.

Glue the orange painted corks together in rows, which should make five rows. The first and fifth row and have four corks, the second and forth rows have five corks and the middle row has six corks.

Attach all the rows together to form a pumpkin.

Add a stem to the top of the pumpkin, curling the floral wire around a thick paint brush or dowel to create a curly Q vine. Attach the vine, stem and then leaves to the pumpkin.

To make the pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern, use some black paint to make eyes and then a mouth.

Jelly and custard cups – one of the easiest and most nostalgic of all 80’s desserts. This combination is still popular for a couple of reasons. Firstly, it’s insanely easy to make. It takes just 10 mins – the hardest part is waiting for the jelly to set because let’s be honest, waiting for dessert is hard! And secondly, jello and custard tastes awesome together. Holidays and baking go hand in hand and part of the fun is sticking to the “theme” by using some of our favourite ingredients. Lucky for us, berries are in season during the Fourth of July, so they’ll be full of flavour. Freshly picked strawberries and blueberries with vanilla cream certainly make for a tasty and festive dessert!

Above all, this recipe is very easy to make, which is always important when holiday planning.  The longest part is waiting for the gelatin to set. Once the gelatin is firm all you need to do is layer the ingredients, one after the other creating those amazing red and white stripes. The tricky part…putting the cream in the glass without touching the sides! Whether or not you succeed, these parfaits will look great in a tall clear glass, or if your hosting a group, try to triple the recipe and fill a trifle bowl!

Easy and Quick Fourth of July Strawberry Dessert

This week we are bringing you a delicious, easy to make strawberry parfait. As a holiday blog we love everything festive and this recipe certainly checks all the boxes – the strawberries, jello, cream and blueberries give it the perfect red, white and blue look.

Ingredients

Jelly layer

• 1 pkg Hartley’s Strawberry Jelly
• 250 mls boiling water
• 250 mls cold water

Pudding layer

• 1 pkg instant vanilla pudding
• 2 cups milk
• 2 cups whipped topping

Fruit layer

• fresh strawberries sliced
• fresh blueberries

Instructions

Jelly layer

• In a bowl, add boiling water to the jelly, stir until dissolved, add the cool water, stirring until well mixed.
• Place in the fridge for 45min or until set.

Pudding layer

• With the electric mixer, prepare the instant pudding by adding 2 cups of water to the powder and mix until small peaks develop (about 5min).
• Add in 2 cups of whipped topping, mix with the electric mixer until well blended, set aside.

Layering

• Begin to layer the ingredients, two-three spoonfuls at a time into a tall clear glass.
• Start with some of the firm jelly, then add the pudding layer, finally add the sliced strawberries. Continue to alternate until the glass is full.
• Top with blueberries!
