It’s also a fun way to help keep track of how many days are left to finish up costumes and pick up candy for the big night. What You’ll Need: Wood blocks Acrylic paints Small plastic skulls Paint pen Sandpaper Paint brushes Glue Paint two square blocks in a solid colour and then set aside to dry completely. We chose a bright green as it gives a fabulous pop of colour underneath the black overlay. Paint three small plastic skulls black and then let dry. While the skulls are drying, paint black on the two blocks to cover the green and let dry. Paint the base block black and then set aside to dry. Use some gold paint to dry brush over the skulls. Dry brushing is a painting technique where a dry paint brush is used with a minimal amount of paint. The result is brush strokes that have a scratchy look that lacks the smooth appearance regular painting commonly has. Use sandpaper or a sanding block to remove some of the black paint to reveal the green underneath, therefore giving them a distressed look. Stencil numbers onto the Halloween blocks. One block should have numbers 0 through 5 and the second should have 1,2,3 and 0, so every day in the calendar can be read. On the base block, write ‘Days Til Halloween’ with the paint pen or stencil. Lastly, glue the skulls to the side of the base in a tower. Let the countdown begin – we hope you have fun making these Halloween Advent Blocks – happy crafting!

Tropical Party Decor – Easy Breezy Pineapple Garland https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/tropical-party-decor-easy-breezy-pineapple-garland/ Sat, 08 Jul 2023 15:39:00 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=2678 We are so excited about this beautiful tropical party decoration that is so easy to make, you’ll be surprised. This stunning tropical party decor works for many occasions, including baby showers, first birthday, bridal showers and much more. We love it for summer weekends, perfect for any beach, pool or tropical themed party! Hang it on any patio for a pop of colour, this bright party decor will certainly make your party fabulous! This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What You’ll Need: Green paper in light and dark colours Yellow paper Pink paper Scissors Yarn Glue Hole punch Flower punch Begin by cutting an 8.5″ x 11″ piece of green paper in half and then folding those pieces in half again. Cut a heart shape out of the folded paper, cutting it out from the creased side. On the curved edge of the folded heart, cut out four teardrop shapes. These should get gradually smaller the closer to the pointed tip. Keep cutting out leaves until you have about two dozen and then make holes on the wide end of the leaves with a hole punch. Repeat the first step with light green paper. This time cut a half football shape from the folded edge of the paper. Almost finished this beautiful Tropical Party Decor! This time, cut out five thin, sharp curves from the unfolded edge of the half football. When all your leaves are ready, use the hole punch to make small circles in the bottom of the leaves. Once more, follow the first step with yellow paper this time. Cut a half oval from the folded edge of the creased paper. Using the scrapes left over from cutting out the leaves, make pineapple fronds by cutting out curved leaves. To assemble the pineapples, attach two of the yellow ovals together. Add two more (four ovals per pineapple in total) and then glue the fronds onto the flat back of the pineapple. Punch flowers from pink paper and either use a punch or scissors to make small yellow stems. Glue the stems in the centre of the flowers. String the leaves, alternating light and dark, onto a piece of yarn. Add a pineapple on every four or five leaves. We made two dozen of each colour of the leaves and ten pineapples which gave us two 4′ garlands. Lastly, glue the little pink flowers onto the leaves. Sprinkle them out at random in between the pineapples and then the garlands are complete! Love our Tropical party decor, but not quite ready for your long weekend luau? Try adding our Colour Pop Coasters for extra decor and serve our Peach Moscato Cocktails.

Which happens to be our favourite description when it comes to holiday crafting. And there is something so sweet about clovers, right? Our heritage isn’t Irish, but it’s hard to resist joining in the celebration and using that adorable clover punch that’s been waiting in the punch collection. So, head on over to your go-to dollar store and pick up some glitter paper, a canvas and some twine. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What you’ll need: Glitter (or plain) paper in green and gold Clover punch Heart punch Twine Stapler Mini Clothespins Canvas or wood board Let’s make our St. Patrick’s Day Clover Canvas! To begin, punch out (you can cut them out if you don’t have a punch) 9 shamrocks from the green paper. You can always make more or less clover, depending on the look you want and the size of your canvas. Punch or cut out one heart from the gold paper. Staple one end of the twine to the back of the canvas, close to the top. Wrap the twine around the front and then staple the other end to the back of the canvas, to the opposite side. Repeat this step three or four more times. Use the mini clothespins to clip the clover onto the twine. We spaced our clover out evenly and placed them all in the same direction, but you could also switch things up hang them crooked, in different directions or bunched together! There’s no wrong way to finish this St. Patrick’s Day Clover Canvas. Remember to add the gold heart! We hope you have a super fun St. Patrick’s Day, happy crafting! How To Make Yarn Wrapped Green Balls https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/how-to-make-yarn-wrapped-green-balls/ https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/how-to-make-yarn-wrapped-green-balls/#respond Thu, 04 Mar 2021 20:09:24 +0000 https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/?p=5875 Our Mom is big into knitting and crocheting. She’s amazing at both, and our babies have definitely benefited! Over the years, she’s made some really beautiful handmade pieces for us – like blankets, hats, booties, and sweaters that we really treasure. So, using Mum’s favourite hobby as inspiration, (though neither of us ever leant how to knit) we created some Lucky Green Balls for this St. Patrick’s Day. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. These little decorations are super fun, and surprisingly soothing, to make. There are a few different ways to wrap yarn, and they’re all easy! We like the look of the circular method we used for our balls. But, all the methods really work great, plus they are so, so easy and really inexpensive to put together! What you’ll need: Styrofoam balls (5 or more, depending on the size you have) Yarn Glue Scissors Optional: Pins, popsicle stick, cotton swab or paint brush Let’s Make Some Lucky Green Balls! Start with a dollop of glue on the top of one of the Styrofoam balls. This step is optional – but we found it helpful to add a pin to the yarn to hold it in place while the glue is still wet. Begin twirling the yarn tightly around itself, sticking it to the glue as you go. Try not to leave any gaps in the yarn. Add glue as you are wrapping to hold the yarn in place. Keep wrapping until the entire ball is covered and then snip the yarn off at the top circle. Wrapping the top of the ball will be a little more difficult, you will need to gently push the yarn to keep any gaps from forming as you go. Copy the same steps again with some white or cream yarn. And then again with another green yarn. This technique works equally well for both thinner and thicker yarns. To make our rainbow ball, use the exact same steps as the solid coloured balls. The difference here will be the transition between each colour. To do this, mark on the ball where you want each colour to end with a pen. Start at the top as usual, using the glue and wrapping the yarn. When you reach the first mark, cut off the yarn and glue the end to the ball. Start the next colour by layering the new colour overtop of the cut end (blue over purple in our example). Continue this technique with each colour to cover the entire ball. All done!
