They were a beautiful way to show community spirit. Since our communities have opened to a new normal, the painting of rocks around town has settled. But, the littles have continued to enjoy painting rocks which led us to come up with a nice way to display their beautiful creations. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? Grab some paint and brushes and have the kids paint the rocks with Thanksgiving or fall in mind. It’s fun to see what they will come up with. Once the rocks are finished, set them aside to dry completely. While the littles are painting their rocks, prepare the frame by removing the glass (if not already done) and adding the cut 8×10 piece of card stock. Once the rocks have dried use the hot glue gun to glue the rocks into the centre of the frame. Then measure and cut a length of burlap ribbon to make a circle around the the rocks. Twist the burlap to create some loops. Finish the circle by twisting the two ends together, be sure to tuck in any loose fibres. Finally, glue the burlap circle around the rocks to finish. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. You’ll only need three supplies, which can all be found at the dollar store – tissue paper, scissors, and a stapler. Choose fall coloured paper like oranges, golds, yellows and reds. What You’ll Need: Tissue paper Stapler Scissors To start, layer about four or five sheets of the tissue paper on top of each other. Cut the tissue paper in half lengthwise, to get two sets of long rectangles. Take one of the rectangle piles and fold it in half. Make cuts in the tissue paper along the unfolded edge – be sure not to cut all the way through the fold. Once you’ve made a fringe, unfold the tissue paper and staple the sheets in a few spots along the fold. Tightly twist the tissue paper along the fold. How to Make a Macrame Pumpkin Cover https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/how-to-make-a-macrame-pumpkin-cover/ Mon, 14 Aug 2023 16:53:00 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=3203 This is an easy macrame project, perfect for beginners or experts! A great project for Thanksgiving or Halloween. See how to make your own Macrame Pumpkin Cover for your table, foyer, mantel or porch. This pumpkin cover is perfect for false pumpkins or real ones. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. We recently shared our Macrame Plant Hanger Tutorial and we loved it so much we decided to create a pattern for Halloween or Thanksgiving! It can work for either occasion. This easy macrame pattern is guaranteed to get you hooked on this classic art form. This project is very simple and totally fun. The best part is you can get all the materials at your local dollar store. You can use a foam pumpkin or real – then all you need is some strong cotton yarn or thin cord.  A glue gun and scissors are also needed. This craft does take some time to finish but once you get a good flow going, your knots will be done in no time. What do you need to make a Macrame Pumpkin Cover? Cotton yarn or cord Foam or real pumpkin Hot glue gun with glue sticks Scissors How to Make a Macrame Pumpkin Cover – Macrame Pumpkin Wrap Firstly, cut a long single piece of string – the length will depend on the size of your pumpkin.  You basically need it to go around the top of your pumpkin stump. This will act as the centre “loop”. Secondly, cut several long lengths of string. Be sure to cut them long, making the knots will take up some of the length. We cut ours to about 36 inches long. Double each strand. Attach the long lengths of string to the original length of string (the one that will become the centre loop). A simple loop around is all that is needed to being the macrame. Once all of the strings are looped around, tie the original length together to form the loop.   Lay your circle on the table and begin making your square knots. We will use this simple knot for the whole cover.  You may find it easier to work on the table or maybe directly on the pumpkin – do whatever feels best for you. Begin by taking two of the looped strings and splitting them into four equal parts, two strings per group. Cross the far left strings over the middle two and under the far right. Then, bring the far right up under the middle two strings and through the hole created by the first step. Gently pull the strings together to form a knot. See the picture for a visual step by step. Repeat this step across the entire loop, then again until there are about three layers of knots. You’re Almost Finished Your New Macrame Pumpkin Cover! This craft looks best if the knots cover at least half of the pumpkin and the tassels reach the table top. When there are enough macrame knots tie the ends off using a simple knot. Cut the extra string off. Finally, separate the tassels to make them ‘puff’. Crafters Tip: You can use your hot glue gun to attach the macrame pattern to the top of your foam/real pumpkin. This will keep it secure to the pumpkin, so it won’t slide around. We hope you liked this How to Make a Macrame Pumpkin Cover – Macrame Beginner Knot tutorial.

Polymer clay cures at 275 F which is even lower than baking cookies! Polymer clay should be baked using the manufacturer’s advised temperature (usually 230°F – 275°F). Baking times are typically 15 – 30 minutes for each ¼ inch thickness. Thinner sculptures will take less time than thicker. Place your clay on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. For sculptures like ours, you can use a cornstarch bed or we prefer a polyester fibre to hold the characters shape. To avoid browning you can use aluminum foil cake pans to place your sculptures in and cover with another. Crochet hooks are amazing tools to use with polymer clay, the are perfect for smoothing and blending clay in areas that your fingers can’t reach! Let’s Begin your Charcuterie Board and Dessert Table Decoration! Firstly you’ll need to knead the clay to soften it, try to avoid creating bubbles and squish out any that do form. Once the clay has been softened, you can begin to create the cornucopia. Using a moderate amount of clay, form a cone shape. To create the “opening” use your thumb to indent the large part of the cone. Build the opening of the cornucopia by adding a small, long rolled piece of clay around the indented opening, blend this in using the crochet hook. Add some details to the body of the cornucopia using your toothpick. Once the cornucopia is finished you will see the size of it to better judge how many “fruits and vegetables” you’ll need. Next, create the harvest fruits and vegetables. Grapes and leaves are perfect for filling holes and left over space. Be sure to use the toothpicks and crochet hooks to smooth the apples and likewise, the grooves in the pumpkins.  To create the clay fruit and vegetables: The apples can be made by creating sphere’s with dents at the top  Grapes are tiny, tiny sphere’s that are piled on top of each other Create corn by rolling a small cone and adding texture using the toothpick, wrap the corn in thin husks The leaves are made by creating flat disks, cut the shape of a leaf out and smooth the edges with your fingers or crochet hook Create the pumpkins by creating varying sized sphere’s. Use a toothpick to create the ribs of the pumpkins and add a small stump to the tops. Add the fruits and vegetables to your cornucopia, you may want to add a base to your sculpture, which makes adding all the harvest pieces easier. When you’re happy with your arrangement, we can go ahead and bake! Finally, bake your sculpture using the clay manufacturer’s instructions. Allow the sculpture to dry completely, and be careful because it will be HOT when the timer first dings! If you decided to use white clay, go ahead and paint your creation when it has cooled completely. It’s now ready to placed in and around your charcuterie board or dessert spread! This sculpture looks awesome on a pumpkin pie also, but be sure to piece of waxed paper under it so the clay is not touching the food directly.
