This craft is great for adults and kids, everyone will love making this craft to keep or give as a thoughtful gift. All you need for this craft is a dollar store canvas and an old puzzle, one of those old ones that are lying around with one or two pieces missing! This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. This project is great for the kids too, getting to reuse an old puzzle to make a new craft is always exciting. The part for them will be waiting for the paint to dry, beyond that it’s very simple and a lot of fun.  You can paint your puzzle pieces any colour you’d like, we prefer sparkles…so that had to be included! What do you need to make a Valentine’s Puzzle Heart? Puzzle pieces (use an old one!) Canvas (about 8×10) Spray paint (we used red, white and gold) Hot glue gun Heart stencil or paper heart Pencil To create this master-puzzle-piece, start by spraying your pieces with the spray paint.  Be sure to place your pieces picture side down, the spray paint will adhere better the cardboard side.  Lay them all flat, one or two coats is all that’s needed.  Spray according to the instructions on the can and be sure the paint has dried completely between coats. While the puzzle pieces are drying, spray your canvas.  You can have a white background of course, but a pop of colour is always nice. Allow it to dry completely. How to Make an Easy DIY Valentine’s Puzzle Heart Once the canvas is dry, use a stencil or pre-cut heart to lightly trace a heart shape onto the canvas. Then you can add the puzzle pieces to the canvas. Finally, use the hot glue gun to secure them in place (if working with young children you can use an all purpose glue). Lastly, try not to have any of the “edges” facing out, you want to have the classic puzzle piece shape to your design.   Hang this fun DIY Valentine’s decoration on the wall or place it on a shelf, mantel or window sill.  If you’re looking for more Valentine’s Day ideas, certainly check out our Brownies in a Bottle. Paper Poppy Wall Decor with Free Template https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/paper-poppy-wall-decor/ Thu, 29 Oct 2020 02:17:48 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=3938 There is nothing that symbolizes November 11th all over the world like the poppy. A field of poppies is an inspiring sight to see and is the inspiration behind our Paper Poppy Wall Decor. The combination of the red and orange petals popping on a wall, with textured black and yellow centres, makes these pretty paper poppies a beautiful 3D piece of art.  This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. A huge bonus for this craft is that it only needs three materials – paper, scissors and glue. It couldn’t be easier to create a stunning November 11th decoration! What You’ll Need: Red, orange, yellow, black and green construction paper Petal Template Hot glue gun Scissors Wall tack or removable glue dots Start by cutting six large flower petals from the red paper using the free template provided. These should be about 5″ wide by 6″ long. Cut a slit into the bottom edge of each petal, about 1.5″ deep. Slightly fold one of the split edges over the other and then glue in place. This will lift the petals and give them depth. First glue three of the petals together to form a centre point and then add three more petals to make a flower. Glue in place. Use a small dish or other round object to make a circle from the black paper. Snip the edges of the circle all the way around and then use your fingers to ‘curl’ or fold the cuts to make them stand up. Paper Poppy Wall Decor Repeat the step to make a matching yellow circle. Glue first the yellow and then the black circle to the centre of the flowers. Repeat all of these steps to make some medium sized poppies. These will be about 3″ wide by 4″ long. And one more time to make the smallest poppies, this time in orange. The size of these ones are around 2″ wide by 3″ long. Make some leaves from green paper. Begin by folding the paper in half and then cutting a long, slim oval on the fold. With the paper still folded, cut small indents along the curved edge. Unfold the leaves and glue some together in small bunches to go around the flowers. We hope you loved this Paper Poppy Wall Decor craft as much as we do! Animals of Canada Coasters with Free Template https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/animals-of-canada-coasters-with-free-template/ Mon, 22 Jun 2020 19:42:55 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=2301 If you have a cottage or are going to a cottage this Canada Day, we have just the craft for you! These awesome Animals of Canada Coasters are the best addition to cottages since the boat shaped bookshelf. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. Don’t have a cottage? No worries, these coaster look just as great on a patio or dining table. Take them camping to add some Canada Day charm to the great outdoors. Because they’re made using resin, they travel well and will last outdoors – just be sure to bring them in when it rains. What You’ll Need: Coaster Template – Bear, Beaver, Moose and Goose Plain wood coasters Sharp craft knife Glue-stick Art resin Animals of Canada Coasters with Free Template Begin by using one of the wood coasters to trace the size onto the back of the templates, be sure to centre the animals in the middle of the coaster. Next, using a very sharp craft knife and a cutting board, cut out the animals from the templates. Cut out the circles, using the outline we traced earlier as a guide. Cover the back of the paper circle with a full coat of glue and then attach it to the wood coaster. Repeat for all four of the coasters. Set up each coaster on an elevated surface with a catch tray underneath. We used a toilet paper roll cut down and paper plates. Another option is a baking cooling rack and a tray – keep in mind that whatever you use will be a dedicated resin rack after this craft. Almost done! Mix the resin. Most resins will have two elements to mix together in equal parts, a hardener and a setting agent. We mixed 1 oz of each and that was enough to cover the four coasters. Pour the mixed resin over each coaster. A disposable knife can be used to spread the resin if needed. The resin will self level so if we push it too much, it will flow back into place. No need to rush, most resins have about 45 minutes of working time before they begin to set. Use a toothpick to pop any air bubbles that show up. These bubbles will keep appearing during the hours it takes for the resin to settle and dry, so keep checking in and pop bubbles as they arrive. Leave the coasters in dust free area for at least 24 hours to fully harden. We hope you love these Animals of Canada Coasters with Free Template! Need more Canada Day ideas? It’s a day to celebrate the love between best girlfriends. It’s a fictional holiday, sure, but we think it’s definitely worth celebrating. And these fun Galentine’s Day Wine Glasses will add the cutest touch to a night in with your best girls. They will need time to dry so we recommend crafting at least a day before you want to use them. Cheers to girlfriends everywhere! This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What you’ll need to make Galentine’s Day Wine Glasses: Wine glasses Paper doilies Mod Podge or other sealer Paint in pinks and reds (optional) How to make your own Galentine’s Day Wine Glasses: Paint the doilies in a variety of pinks and reds, you can leave some white as well. Be sure the paint is completely dry before moving onto the next step. You could also pick up some coloured doilies from a party store if you can find some. Trace the base of the glasses onto the lace sections of the doilies and then cut out the circles. Glue the cutouts to the bottom of the glasses, letting each layer dry thoroughly between applications so the glue will dry clear.    We hope you have an amazing night with your best gal pals, drinking and laughing the night away in style with Galentine’s Day Wine Glasses. Happy crafting! Looking for some DIY decor for your ladies night?
