These Christmas handprint ideas are very easy to make and great for kids of all ages. Students, toddlers and preschoolers will all have fun creating and decorating their handprints. Younger children may need a little help cutting their handprints out but can revel in their independence when decorating Santa, trees and penguins.

What do you need to create these Handprint Christmas Kids Craft Ideas?

  • Construction paper in red, white, blue, green and yellow
  • Glue Stick
  • Stick on gems, stickers and small decorations
  • Markers
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Ribbon for creating a garland
  • Popsicle sticks for creating puppets
  • Card stock for creating Christmas cards

It’s easy to put these Christmas kids’ crafts together. Simply trace your child’s hand, cut it out (they may need a hand – see what we did there?) and decorate!

Firstly, the Christmas Tree needs decorations and a star made out of yellow construction paper. A brown stump can be glued to the back of the handprint, also made from construction paper.

Secondly, the Santa is made by tracing your child’s hand on some white construction paper. Glue a red Santa hat with a white pom-pom and trim to the top of the Santa’s head. His face can be drawn with markers.

Finally, make the penguin by tracing your child’s hand on blue construction paper, add a white “belly” and red scarf. Create their cute face with markers.

Lastly, decide what you want the Christmas characters to be!

If you would like to make a garland for the mantel or a doorway simple tape them onto some string or ribbon.

Create puppets by adding a popsicle stick to the back of the character using glue.

Or personalize the handprint characters by making them into Christmas cards. Simply glue the handprints onto card stock folded in half. The cards can be the same size as the characters or smaller if you want some of the handprint to pop out!
