How to Make a Succulent Moss Wreath – Easter Decoration Idea https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/how-to-make-a-succulent-moss-wreath-easter-decoration-idea/ Mon, 22 Mar 2021 20:25:04 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1719 This week we have a designer Easter decoration idea, something that looks like it was bought from HomeSense or Pottery Barn but an easy DIY! The materials for this beautiful succulent moss wreath can be found at the local dollar and craft store, and it’s definitely fit for Easter celebrations. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. We admit it, there are a lot of small steps to this craft but we can assure you that they’re easy ones.  The most tedious part is wrapping the moss ribbon around the foam wreath, it can be tough to get the moss in the right place while keeping it even and flat. We found it easiest to go slowly, laying the moss along the foam and securing it with the green thread little bits at a time, using the glue gun is certainly useful.  Once you have placed and secured the moss, all thats needed is to arrange flowers, succulents and Easter decorations.   What you need to make a DIY Moss Wreath: Foam wreath Moss ribbon Thin green thread Artificial succulents Artificial flowers Easter decorations (bunny faces, eggs or chicks) Ribbon Hot glue gun Floral foam Floral wire How to Make a Succulent Moss Wreath – Easter Decoration Idea Firstly, wrap the foam wreath with moss ribbon, one layer at a time. Use green thread and a glue gun to secure the moss in place.   Secondly, add the ribbon by wrapping it around the top of the wreath. Wrap it about two to three times to create a thick, secure ribbon accent.  Cut it when you are happy and glue gun the end the back of the wreath.   Next, cut a piece of the floral wire to secure the floral foam to the wreath, using the glue gun to help secure it. Place it slightly off centre. Now, begin to add the flowers and succulents to the wreath by using the glue gun.  Some flowers and succulents will have wire attached, use this to stick them into the foam and use the glue to secure them. Finally, add the Easter decorations, cute Easter bunnies, chicks or sparkling Easter eggs can be used. Almost any Easter decoration will complement this perfect succulent wreath. What’s more, you could use this wreath all year by placing Easter decorations non-permanently. Did you like our How to Make a Succulent Moss Wreath – Easter Decoration Idea tutorial? Wreaths make front doors festive and welcoming and bring cheer to guests and neighbours. Today we are sharing a pretty, jolly, but simple and easy to make snowflake wreath. We embraced Canada’s bilingualism for our holiday message but any Christmas greeting would work nicely as well. Are you ready to revamp your front door this year? What You’ll Need: Snowflake Ornaments Wood Letters 12 inch Wreath Form Ribbon Paint Paint Brush Glue Bells or mini ornaments How to make your own Joyeux Noel Snowflake Wreath: Paint the wooden letters light blue (or any colour you like) and then let dry. Cut a 12” length of ribbon and then attach it to the top of the wreath by forming a loop and gluing the ends of the ribbon together. Glue the snowflakes to the wreath, making sure to slightly overlap each one as you go around to cover the entire form. Attach the letters on top of the snowflakes and then add bells for decoration. Mini ornaments are a perfect substitute for bells here. Voila! A beautiful snowflake wreath to greet holiday visitors, happy crafting! Hearts and Arrows Valentine’s Day Wreath https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/yarn-felt-hearts-and-arrows-valentines-day-wreath/ Tue, 28 Apr 2020 23:19:22 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1162 We love festive decor, especially festive outdoor decor! Having a festive, DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath on the front door is a special way to welcome visitors. We created this charming yarn and felt Valentine’s Day Wreath, and we are smitten with it! This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, now is the perfect time to get started on this year’s lovely decorations. This wreath is easy to make, the perfect craft for a chilly day in front of the fire or when watching a movie. With minimum effort here comes maximum impact – this sweet wreath will make you and your guests feel the love! What You’ll Need: – An embroidery hoop or foam wreath base– Yarn in three colours– Felt in beige and light and dark pink– A straight-ish branch– Scissors– Hot Glue Gun– A small piece of ribbon or lace Firstly, tie the first colour of yarn around the hoop. Start wrapping the yarn around the hoop, keeping the loops tight against each other. Cover half of the hoop and then switch to the next colour. To do this, tie the two strings together and continue wrapping with tight loops, covering the tails as you go. Add as much of the accent colour as you like, we added a stripe every couple inches. Pop outside and find a neighborhood tree to lend you a branch. Clip off any twigs it may have. Cut out two matching hearts from the dark pink felt. I free-handed these hearts by folding the felt in half to make sure the heart was symmetrical, but you could also trace a wood shape, or use a stencil if you like. Glue the hearts onto the narrower end of the branch, one on top of the other to create an arrowhead. Halfway there… Repeat the heart steps, but draw half of a parallelogram instead. This will make the feathers, so glue these two pieces on the wider end of the branch. Tip: Only use glue next to the branch. Try not to get the on the edges of the ‘feathers’, it will make it easier to cut the ‘feathers’ in angled lines, about 1/4″ wide, all the way along the tail on both sides. Add a small bow on the accent yarn. This will finish the tail end nice and neatly. Loop a ribbon or some lace around the top of the wreath for hanging. If your using thin ribbon, you can simply tie the ends together to form a circle however, if you are using thicker ribbon or lace (like we did) you will need to glue the loop in place with some hot glue. Use some more glue to attach the arrow to the hoop. Then, use the same technique from earlier to cut out some different sized hearts in various colours. Attach them to the bottom of the Valentine’s Day Wreath. Your guests will LOVE coming over and knocking on your door. Happy crafting!
