This DIY project is perfect for long weekend crafting. Use a bright-colored acrylic craft paints, embellish with a printed template and then seal with resin to make it weatherproof. It certainly can’t get easier, what’s not to love? 

What You’ll Need:

• Wood board (we used an 8″x10″)
• Paint in five relate colours
• Paint brush
• Sign template
• Sharp craft knife
• Glue
• Cutting board
• Resin

How to make this DIY Sign for Summer Fun

Firstly, add a dab of each paint colour diagonally across the wood board.

Drag a paintbrush through each colour, blending the colours together as you move across the board.

Follow the outline of the letters with a sharp knife.

Keep going until all of the letters are removed. Keep the inside of the P and R .

Flip the cut template over and cover thoroughly with a paper glue.

Centre the template over the board and then smooth it down. Use glue to attach the inside of the P and R in place.

Mix resin using the directions on the package.

Set the board on a baking tray covered in tin foil and raise up on an old bowl, ribbon spool, or any other item that will hold the board flat and can be discarded. Make sure the board is level.

Pour the resin over the DIY sign.

Spread the resin with a plastic knife, the resin is self-leveling so it should fill in any gaps as you go. Set aside in a dust free spot for 24 hours to fully cure.

As the resin dries, occasionally check on it and then pop any bubbles that may appear with a toothpick.

What You’ll Need:

• Two wooden plaques
• Two paper skulls
• Acrylic paints
• A felt mustache
• Mod Podge
• Foam brush
• Paint brushes
• White tulle
• Colourful small silk or ribbon flowers
• Glue gun and sticks
• Scissors
• Two sheets of scrapbook paper
• A bow tie

Paint the edges of the plaques with the colour of your choice. Trace the shape of the plaque onto scrapbook paper and then cut out the tracing. Glue the paper onto the front of the plaques, using a layer of Mod Podge both under and on top of the paper to seal it.

Paint the skulls completely white and then let dry.

Decorate the sugar skulls. We suggest starting with the black and using it to blacken the eyes and nose. When you are happy with the designs, glue the skulls onto the plaques.

Embellish the bride sugar skull with a flower tiara and tulle veil. To make the veil, cut three strips of tulle about six inches long and then glue in separate layers to the top of the skull, bunching the glued edge together to give the tulle volume. Then glue a flower crown on top of the tulle. Embellish the groom skull with a mustache and bow tie.

What You’ll Need:

• Plain coasters (a great dollar store find)
• Colourful, bright paints
• Paint brushes
• Masking Tape
• A fun decal or sticker
• Varnish

How to make Colour Pop Coasters:

Begin by using the masking tape to divide the coasters in half diagonally.

Paint the un-taped half of the coasters and then let dry before removing the tape.

Paint the other side of the coasters with a complimentary colour and then let dry. The painted side can be taped to make it easier, just be sure the paint underneath is absolutely dry or it can be peeled off when the tape is removed.

Finally, add a fun, summery sticker. We found these gold pineapples – which we love! Other inspirations could be flowers, flamingos, Popsicle’s, watermelons, a sun….really anything and everything summery. Finally, finish with a coat of varnish to seal everything in place.

Sit back, relax and then enjoy a drink resting on fun new colour pop coasters, happy crafting!

What You’ll Need:

• Fabric for the pillow casing
• Felt in four colours
• Green yarn
• Decorative felt balls (or pom poms)
• Large eyed needle (like a darning or embroidery needle)
• Scissors
• Optional: Fabric Glue
• Sewing Machine
• Needle and thread

Measure your fabric for the pillow casing. Be sure to leave room – at least 1/2″ all the way around – for a seam allowance. Stitch three sides closed with the forth left open enough that you can slip your pillow inside.

Cut flowers out of the coloured felts. We made three different sizes in various shapes. You’ll need about twenty flowers to make your pillow.

Arrange your cut flowers on the pillow case. When you like how it looks, start attaching the flowers with the method you have chosen, either put a couple of stitches in the centre of each flower, or a dab of fabric glue.  If you are sewing, make sure to secure your flowers with pins so you don’t lose your design. Work your away along the pillow until all the flowers are attached.

Next, take the green yarn and thread a length onto the large eyed needle. Tie a knot in the end of the thread and start stitching the flowers stems starting from the inside of the casing. Tie another knot in the in the thread inside the casing to secure the flower stem. Sew stems for all the flowers.

Insert your filling into the casing and stitch up the remaining opening. Happy Crafting!
