And seasonal décor just isn’t complete without a great door hanger. Today, let’s make this easy (and adorable!) door decoration using felt, thread, paint and ribbon. We used a burlap ribbon and painted it for texture and depth – but a green ribbon or tulle would work equally well if you’re not in the mood to break out your paints. Use what you have on hand, put your own twist on our projects and then remember to share your creations on our Facebook page, in the comments, or on Instagram! We always love to see or friends creations. Use the embroidery thread to make lines through the carrot, add as many lines as you like. Glue the carrots together at the tops, overlapping slightly, so the carrots spread out. Add some burlap ribbon by piling it on top of itself to create volume. Add a green bow. If you like, sponge some light and dark green paint onto the burlap ribbon and let dry, in order to create some depth to the plain ribbon. Enjoy your new Easter door decoration and Happy Crafting! HO HO HO Wood Christmas Banner https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/easy-vertical-ho-ho-ho-wood-christmas-banner/ Mon, 11 May 2020 19:48:15 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1535 Ho-Ho-Ho Merry Christmas! The Christmas Season is upon us and we’ve been busy decorating to get into the Christmas spirit. Today’s project is a quirky, fun decoration – a Christmas banner that hangs vertically, which is great for decorating on narrow walls or between windows. We also love that this banner is easy to customize, just pick your favorite holiday colours. If you can’t find wood letters the size you need, stenciling is a great option. Let’s get started… This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What You’ll Need: Six 4” square wood plaques Three 2.5” wood letter H’s in white Three 2.5” wood letter O’s in white Red and white patterned ribbon Red paint Paintbrush Scissors Glue How to make your own Wooden Christmas Banner: Paint all of the wood squares with the red paint and then let dry. Glue the red squares to a length of the ribbon (leave the ribbon attached to the spool during this step). Use a measuring tape or ruler to make sure the squares are evenly spread, we spaced them 2” apart. Attach the letters to the squares to spell HO HO HO. Finally, cut the ribbon from the spool at a length of 12” from the top square. Fold the ribbon back on itself and then glue the cut end to the back of the top square to create a loop to hang the banner with. We hope you had fun making our fun Christmas banner. Deal Up Valentine’s Fun with a Sweet Heart Cards Garland https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/deal-up-valentines-fun-with-a-sweet-heart-cards-garland/ Thu, 07 May 2020 21:55:48 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1511 February is just around the corner and that means Valentine’s Day is less than a month away!  Garlands make for fabulous holiday decorating, for mantels, doors, walls and more. There is a lot of garland options available to buy but why not make your own?  Our Heart Cards Garland just needs three things – a deck of old (or new) playing cards, some ribbon and a hole punch, it couldn’t be easier! So, let’s gather the supplies and get to work! This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What You’ll Need: A deck of playing cards (or two, one deck of cards will make a 60” banner) Six or more red, white and pink ribbons in different patterns and thicknesses A hole punch How to make your own Sweet Heart Cards Garland: Choose which ribbon you are using as the ‘string’ for your garland and then cut a 60″ length from that spool. Punch two holes in the opposite top corners of each of the heart cards. Thread each card onto the ‘string’ of the garland and then continue until all of the cards are on the garland, leaving about 1” between the cards. Cut lengths about 6” long from the other ribbons.  In between each of the cards strung on the garland, tie three lengths of ribbon in a knot. Repeat this step for the entire length of the garland. We’ve fallen in love with this festive Valentines Heart Cards Garland and we hope you do too, happy crafting! Easy Weeknight St. Patrick’s Day Clover Chair Sashes https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/easy-weeknight-st-patricks-day-clover-chair-sashes/ Wed, 06 May 2020 20:47:11 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1446 Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Spring is on it’s way which makes this the perfect time to add some green decorations for St. Patrick’s Day. We made these Clover Chair Sashes in under 30 mins with just a few easy to find materials. These sashes are also a great weeknight creativity blast, or a quick craft to sneak into a busy weekend. What You’ll Need: Light green stiffened felt (one sheet for each chair sash) Dark green stiffened felt (one sheet for each chair sash) Burlap ribbon Scissors Fabric glue Circle template or cup Sewing machine (hand sewing will work too) Measure your burlap ribbon around the back of your chair, it should be snug but not too tight as you will need to be able to slip the sash onto the chair back without it slipping down. Leave an inch or two of seam allowance, and for space to adjust the size if needed. Take a ribbon length and fold it on  half onto itself so the the ends meet, making sure to fold the good sides facing each other and then sew the ends together. Use the circle template (or a glass) to create a clover on the dark green felt by tracing two half circles for each leaf and then add a stem. The dark green clover will be a stencil to trace the shape onto the light green felt sheets. Cut out the light green clovers about ½” smaller than the traced outline. Glue the light green clovers on top of the dark green ones and then let dry. Attach the stacked clover to the burlap sash bands with fabric glue. Slip the clover chair sashes onto your chair and have a great St. Patrick’s Day, happy crafting! For more DIY decorations for March 17th check out our Lucky Rainbow Signboard.
