This craft is a ton of fun! All of the kids loved putting this together. They each had their own thoughts and ideas. And what’s better? The materials are all easily found at the dollar store, or right at home already! This paper bag kids craft perfect for all ages. We did our craft with three kids, ages 3-7, and it was loved by each of them. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What you’ll need: Brown paper bag Paper towel roll Tissue paper in red and yellow Child friendly paint in green, orange, red, yellow and brown Paint brushes Scissors Crafting glue 12 x 12 white scrapbook paper Popsicle sticks (optional for swing) String or yarn (optional for swing) Hot glue gun with glue sticks (if making a swing) Leaf template found HERE Paper Bag Tree Kids Craft for Thanksgiving Firstly, print out the leaf template and trace it onto a paper bag and some coloured tissue paper. Each tree needs about 15-20 leaves. Secondly, the tree trunk needs to be painted, using the brown coloured paint and then set aside. While the tree trunks are drying, paint the “ground”. Using the 12×12 scrapbook paper, ask your child to paint the ground underneath the trees. This is fun to watch as most children will come up with their own way of doing it. We suggested using finger tips to make “fallen leaves” but only one of the three wanted to paint their picture that way! While the kids are painting their ground scene, begin cutting the tree trunk. Make four cuts in the bottom of the paper towel roll, then pull the cut pieces up. Add some crafting glue to the bottom of the cut pieces then place it onto the painted scrapbook paper. Next, make more cuts on the top of the tree trunk – thinner ones this time to create branches. Fold them down gently. Using the crafting glue, glue the leaves to the tree branches. *Optional* add a swing to the fall paper bag tree! This part will need to be done by the adults. What’s an awesome backyard tree without a swing?? Cut a 2 inch piece from the popsicle stick using scissors. Add two pieces of string to the each side, securing with a hot glue gun. Tie a knot in to bring the strings together and then glue gun the knot to a lower “tree branch” on the paper towel tree. Easiest Three Step Yarn Modern Christmas Tree Ever https://www.champagneandsugarplums.com/easiest-three-step-yarn-modern-christmas-tree-ever/ Wed, 13 May 2020 23:21:07 +0000 http://192.168.0.28:8010/?p=1640 This project may be the easiest, cheapest, quickest Christmas craft we’ve ever done…and have we a lot of awesome decorations that fit that category! (our vintage photo blocks are just one example) But this Three Step Yarn Modern Christmas actually takes less than 10 mins to make, costs about $10 and there are only three steps – total! We also love that it can pull double duty as a card holder. This blog post may contain affiliate links. What does that mean? We may get a small commission if you make a purchase using our links, which helps us to keep posting new holiday content every week. What You’ll Need: Yarn Command Hooks (mini size, value pack) Flat decorations (snowflakes, stars, circles etc) Scissors Measuring tape Useful but optional – laser pointer How to make your own Three Step Yarn Modern Christmas Tree: Find the centre of your wall or table – wherever you are making the tree. A laser pointer is useful but not necessary for this step. Attach one command hook to the wall to make the top of your tree, with the hook facing the ceiling. At the bottom on your tree (either at table height or the floor) measure how wide the tree will be. The closer to the ground you go, the wider the base of the tree will be. Decide how far apart you want the ‘branches’ to be (our tree was table height and we did them 6′ apart). Keep in mind that the bigger the tree, the more command hooks you will need. Stick the command hooks to the wall at your chosen intervals with the hooks facing the floor. Start the tree with the top hook, tying the yarn to the hook to secure. Wrap the yarn back and forth from the top hook to the bottom ones, looping back on itself each time. Tie another knot at the top hook when finished. We hope you love this quick modern Christmas tree as much as we do, happy crafting!
